Germanium-Vacancy Single Color Centers in Diamond
In this study, we report a novel color center in diamond, composed of a germanium (Ge) and a vacancy (V) and named the GeV center, which has a sharp and strong photoluminescence band with a zero-phonon line at 602 nm at room temperature. We demonstrate this new color center works as a single photon source.

Germanium(II) dicationic complexes - Wikipedia
Ge(II) dicationic complexes refer to coordination compounds of germanium with a +2 formal oxidation state, and a +2 charge on the overall complex. In some of these coordination complexes, the coordination is strongly ionic, localizing a +2 charge on Ge, while in others the bonding is more covalent, delocalizing the cationic charge away from Ge.Examples of dicationic Ge(II) …

The molecular structures of complexes 2–8 from X-ray single crystallography showed distorted trigonal bipyramidal geometry at the germanium centers. Germanium chalcogenide materials (GeSe and GeTe) were obtained from the thermal decomposition of complexes 5, 6, and 8 in hexadecane.
Germanium - Wikipedia
Germanium is a chemical element with the symbol Ge and atomic number 32. It is a lustrous, hard-brittle, grayish-white metalloid in the carbon group, chemically similar to its group neighbors silicon and tin.Pure germanium is a semiconductor with an appearance similar to elemental silicon. Like silicon, germanium naturally reacts and forms complexes with oxygen in nature.

1 We demonstrate that a lightly strained germanium channel (ε / / = − 0.41 %) in an undoped Ge/Si 0.1 Ge 0.9 heterostructure field effect transistor supports a two-dimensional (2D) hole gas with mobility in excess of 1 × 10 6 cm 2 /Vs and percolation density less than 5 × 10 10 cm −2.This low disorder 2D hole system shows tunable fractional quantum Hall effects at low …
Germanium | Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center
Germanium sesquioxide (Ge-132), an organic compound that is supposed to have lower toxicity, has been marketed as a dietary supplement to help fight cancer. In a single case study, tumor remission was reported following oral supplementation (17) .
Germanium Deposits in the United States - USGS
This data release provides data for the single site in the United States (U.S.) that has public record of germanium (Ge) production. Germanium, which is currently classified as a critical mineral in the U.S., is also extracted as a byproduct from deposits in Alaska, Washington, and Tennessee. However, there is no public information that documents germanium …
How many valence electrons does germanium(Ge) have?
For this, germanium ions (Ge 2+) have a total of two valence electrons. Electron Configuration for Germanium (Ge) Ge – 4e – → Ge 4+. Some germanium is recovered from recycling of scrap during the manufacturing process, such as the manufacture of fiber-optic cables (Mercer, 2015).The element germanium largely occurs as a geochemical substitute in various sulfide minerals, primarily in the mineral sphalerite (ZnS), with minor inclusion in silicate minerals.
Germanium-vacancy center in diamond - Wikipedia
The germanium-vacancy center (Ge-V) is an optically active defect in diamond, which can be created by doping germanium into diamond during its growth or by implanting germanium ions into diamond after its growth. Its properties are similar to those of the silicon-vacancy center in diamond (SiV). Ge-V can behave as a single-photon source and shows potential for quantum …
